We All Need Some Quiet Time
Why not a day in the country or on the water, listening to the quiet sounds of Nature?
Even this old freedom fighter can only take so much of the insanity pouring out of the White House, and that creeping feeling of helplessness that’s working hard to get the best of me.
I admit, attacking the Trump Administration, sucks the life out of me some days. As a man who cherishes logic and order, this White House’s daily lack of interest in caring for the American people is like trying to scrape dog shit off your shoe.
My remedy is too lose myself in nature and finding a quiet place without the cacophony of the motion of daily life.
Just listening to the sounds of the wind blowing through the trees, the songs of the birds, the calls of the critters and immersing myself in the natural beauty of Mother Nature, restores my inner peace.
When I’m tending to the trees and flowers living on my property, I freely chat with them and thank them for being there, and I truly believe that they chat back in their own quiet way.
When the big storm hit Asheville, I made one request to my trees, “Fall to the left or right, just not on my house”. And sure enough, the one felled tree fell to its right.
If being on the water is your passion, go and be on the water. As you enjoy the quiet sounds around you, take a moment to imagine all the life that is living under your boat.
If you are unable to escape, pick an hour of the day to be still and enjoy the quiet.
To some this all sounds absurd and ridiculous, but others, who understand the magnificence of creation, are renewed and inspired by the energy that the Earth brings up from her soul to heal us, so we may continue fighting for what is right and just under Natural Law.
And what is Natural Law? To me, it’s knowing that no critter or plant is more important than any other, including human beings.
All living things share the same spark of life.
My loyal readers know that I’m not afraid to lay down the truth about the enemy, who sells out the United States of America daily, but sometimes I just need a breather from the horror befalling all of us.
In my short time on Substack, I have gathered readers in 46 states and 51 countries. I’m not bragging. Fact is, I am very humbled. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
So as the 250th Fourth of July arrives, make some time to go exploring nature and remember that we are all brothers and sisters, regardless of race, color or creed.
As you chill, I ask you one favor. Ponder what is the strongest power on the planet.
A belief.
Since the dawn of civilization, beliefs have changed the course of history.
I believe in the greatest experiment of all, a free people ruling themselves without a king or dictator, the United States of America.
Let us recommit ourselves for the final push to rid ourselves of the evil that is working hard to make us a nation of serfs and nobles.
Nothing like relaxing quiet to help us rejuvenate for the battles ahead.
I’m sparing you my usual closing diatribe.

I'm right there with you, Jack. I'm lucky to have Nature in my backyard, too. But for those who don't, there are many other fine ways to get lost. For example, I got lost this afternoon in our local library, came home with an armful of books, and had a blast deciding which one to read first. That's why I'm up now, at 3:45 am - got up from my book to get some Moosetracks and decided to read Dr. Richardson's Friday night Letter before putting my phone down for the weekend and getting lost in my books. The Algae Maker is a pitiful, corrupt piece of shit. I refuse to let him spoil another minute of another day! Enjoy your lost time, old friend!
This was refreshing to read. Thank you for the reminder that we need to escape from this madness that never ends. Thank God for nature (and other ways) to do that!
